Also known as the variable king snake, they are a small species of king snake reaching no more than 3 feet. They can produce offspring of different colours and patterns from similar looking parents.

We are working towards improving the welfare of every pet reptile, which is why our expectations are so much higher than those of some other retailers and breeders. You want a healthy, happy pet and we know that our king snake habitats are a great way to achieve that! Please read our article on minimum standards (see the link in the main description below) to see why our habitats are the most effective on the market.

Description

Please read about our minimum standards and why we use them – it’s really important!

Feeding the Orange Peach Thayers King Snake

Your Thayer’s king snake should be offered a rodent once per week, no larger than the widest part of the body. This should be defrosted in the fridge and brought to room temperature before being offered to the snake, either on tongs or just left for the snake to find. Despite being a mostly lizard feeder in the wild, this species will readily accept rodents.

Housing the Orange Peach Thayers King Snake

Creating a suitable environment is critical for the well being of your snake.

Despite their small size, a Thayer’s king snake will appreciate a vivarium of at least 90cm and preferably more. They will settle in to this quite happily as long as they are provided with plenty of size appropriate hides. Keep the environment clean by removing solid waste as soon as possible, and clean vivarium furniture and water bowls regularly with a reptile safe disinfectant.
