More akin to a large house spider than a tarantula, the giant huntsman does not so much run as teleport from place to place. Non aggressive, it nevertheless needs a secure home and very careful management.

Despite originating from Florida, this species is now found worldwide in tropical areas having hitched a lift with humans in their travels. A leg span of 12cm makes this a very large spider indeed, even without the bulk of a tarantula.
Its speed should not be underestimated – this is one fast spider. It is otherwise unaggressive and straightforward to keep well.
