Description
Fruit beetle grubs (Pachnoda marginata larvae) grow up to around 40-50mm. They are soft bodied and are loved by larger lizards such as bearded dragons and panther chameleons. They make a great treat. The adult beetle can also be used as a food.
How they come
There are 10 fruit beetle grubs are in a tub with some moist peat which they will feed on. They need to be kept at 20-28c, moist (not wet).
Caring for fruit beetle grubs
The grubs are best kept in a well venitlated faunarium box with 5-6cm of a moist (not wet) substrate such as coco fibres or peat. They will feed on a mix of beetle grub A and beetle grub B or leaf mulch and rotting hardwood. They will also eat a little fruit, add just a small amount as leftovers will rot and attract fruit flies. Remember to keep them moist and not wet.
Caring for adult fruit beetles
Adult beetles will eat fruit such as apple, banana, mango etc as well as jelly pots which are available in strawberry, banana, mango and melon. Jelly pots are a very convenient and easy to use food.
